Avatar Nation @ NAB 2011 — What James Cameron has in Store for Avatar Fans in the Future

I was fortunately lucky enough to attend the massive National Association of Broadcasters trade show where the latest and greatest media production gear is showcased by a large range of companies.

Among the many exhibitors was the Cameron Pace Group which is the company that licenses and sells the revolutionary 3D technology that James Cameron developed for the production of Avatar.

Featured, in their booth was a positively massive TV trailer used as a control center for 3D broadcast productions for sporting events and such. Then there were the absolutely beautiful purpose built 3D cameras and rigs.

Before I let the pictures do the talking. I can honestly say based on what I saw in terms of 3D footage from the likes of RED, the Avatar sequels are going be even more visually stunning than the original Avatar movie.

Avatar Nation Episode 8 is Now Available for Download

After a busy quarter of recruiting new team members and recording new segments. We are pleased to finally release the first episode in the second season of Avatar Nation. You will notice we have made some minor adjustments to the formatting of the episode, there will be many more such adjustments coming up the pipeline as we strive to make Avatar Nation a better podcast.

Avatar Nation Is Looking For Passionate Avatar Fans to Join The Cast and Crew Of The Avatar Nation Podcast.

2011 was a great year for Avatar Nation. Since our first episode aired in March of this year, we have been able to air 6 episode packed with discussion, news, and even song parodies about a shared passion—Avatar. Many members of the Avatar Nation team were able to be present and provide coverage of the Seattle Meetup which was one of the largest fan organized Avatar meetup that occurred on July of this year.

As great as 2011 was for us, we have even bigger plans for the second season of our podcast in 2012. For that reason, we are putting out the call for dedicated Avatar fans to come and join the team help us on the quest keep the feeling of Avatar alive for the rest of the community.

Avatar Meet: Seattle Dates Announced!

Avatar Nation is pleased to bring you the following message from the organizers of the 2012 Avatar Meet in Seattle:

The wait is over! Dates are now confirmed. They are July 19th-23rd 2012, with two pre-meetup camping events happening between July 15th and July 18th. We now have an event calendar on our website here.

Online Registration is now open. To register for the 2012 meetup simply go to AvatarMeet.com and create an account. Or click here. Registration allows you to get benefits such as hotel discounts, news and updates and guaranteed spaces in events. It helps us to know the numbers and statistics to plan an awesome event for everyone. :D Registration is completely free and only takes a few minutes. Even if you aren’t sure that you will be attending the meetup, it is highly recommended that you create an account, as you will have access to information and other important updates.

We have a hotel for our group. We have made arrangements with The Best Western Executive Inn. The hotel will be giving our group an excellent discount and will be providing rooms/space for some of our events. Instructions on how to make your reservation are on our website here.

We are now accepting donations. Several events need to be paid in advance. Please see more info here.

AvatarMeet.com has gone through a huge overhaul and there are many new pages to explore, as well as old ones that have been updated. There will be more updates to come, so check back often.

Avatar Nation – Episode 6: Seattle Meetups Part II – Now Available!

Good news folks, after several weeks of work, two hard drive failures, and a few other assorted technical difficulties Episode 6 of Avatar Nation is now available for your listening pleasure!

Featured in this episode is more new audio from the Avatar community meetup at the EMP Science Fiction Museum in Seattle that occurred on July 9th 2011. That not all though, Alan, from the Tree of Souls forum was kind enough to provide me with audio of the Seattle Meetup in June along with his colorful commentary of the events. This will the be conclusion of our coverage of the meetups, and we shall be returning to our normal schedule and programming.

NOTE: Currently this episode and all prior episodes are now only available from this website. Due to a number of technical and bandwidth difficulties from our previous podcast host we are in the process of temporarily removing the current iTunes listing and feed, and replacing it with new feed that points the Avatar Nation server. The change should take about 7-14 days depending on how fast iTunes will enact the changes. After that hopefully all episodes should be available to you on iTunes for your listening pleasure.

So to recap, this episode is currently only available for listening on the built in media player on the Avatar Nation website or via the Podcast RSS feed which is located at:
